Ndéye Fatou Ngom is a PhD researcher in WP 5: Fisherfolks' Weather – and Climate-related Knowledge ∞ Action Networks. She works on fisheries in Senegal, and is based at both the Cheikh Anta Diop University and ISS/EUR.
Ndéye Fatou obtained a Bachelor's degree in Physical Geography, option Biogeography accompanied by a certification in geomatics. She has a MSc degree in environmental sciences at the Institute of Environmental Sciences (ISE) of Cheikh Anta Diop University. This gives her skills in geomorphology, climatology, environment, mapping and remote sensing, statistical and multidisciplinary analysis. Throughout her professional career, she has worked in various organizations dedicated to the environment, sustainability and climate change, which has allowed her to strengthen her knowledge in biodiversity conservation, protected area management, climate change, adaption and mitigation. This is the reason why she developed a real interest in marine and coastal studies and this passion has led her to envision a career in this field through this PhD position in Climares research project. She views climate change as part of the broader transformations that the Earth has experienced over the centuries. This PhD, with its multidisciplinary and participatory approach, provides both practical training and a solid framework for professional development, while offering the opportunity to fully integrate into the scientific community.
