Alfred Mukengere

WP 8 PhD researcher

Alfred Mukengere is a PhD researcher in WP 8: Displaced Populations' Weather- and Climate-related Knowledge ∞ Action Networks. He works with displaced populations in the east of the DRC, and is based both at ISDR-Bukavu, and ISS/EUR.

Alfred comes from Bukavu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is the eldest of a large family, grounded in Christian values. His father and mother were affected by health issues at an early stage and became deeply committed to addressing them with dedication. They have always been an inspiration for his by building their own company in a difficult health sector of his country. A real example of life resilience in making his own way.

Growing up in a region often affected by conflict has shaped Alfred into a resilient person, able to face challenges with perseverance. For him, whether situations are good or difficult, what truly matters is living with integrity and finding happiness in himself and in those around him.
